Betty Jean Tucker, Joe Taylor to read from latest novels at UWA

LIVINGSTON — The University of West Alabama’s College of Liberal Arts will sponsor two authors reading from their works and signing their books. Each event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Betty Jean Tucker will be reading from her story collection, “On a Darkling Plain.” Tucker will read on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. at UWA’s Callaway Schoolhouse. Tucker chaired UWA’s Division of Fine Arts until 1987. “On A Darkling Plain” was a runner-up in the Tartt First Fiction Contest. Following the reading, light refreshments will be served. Her book will be for sale at the event.

Dr. Joe Taylor will be reading from his novel, “Let There Be Lite, Or,” on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. at UWA’s Callaway Schoolhouse. Taylor is a professor in the College of Liberal Arts Department of Languages and Literature. Taylor’s novel will be for sale at the event, and a reception will follow his reading.
