For a defensive player, returning an interception for a touchdown is a memorable achievement. To do that twice in one game is special. A.L. Johnson safety Jeremy Mitchell had a special night last Friday in a 48-13 win over Keith.

Mitchell scored on interception returns of 55 and 30 yards respectively in the contest. The feat earned him Alabama Sports Writers Association Defensive Player of the Week honors. So it was virtually a no-brainer that the ESPN 104.9 Coaches Show crew would hand Mitchell his second distinction when it named him it Player of the Week Tuesday.

For his efforts, Mitchell spent time with the Coaches Show crew at Batter Up Sports Grill in Demopolis Tuesday night where he was interviewed during the show’s live broadcast. Mitchell also received a commemorative T-shirt.

A.L. Johnson is set to travel to Linden Friday night.
