A.L. Johnson grabs Region win over Akron, 34-0

AKRON – A.L. Johnson’s Eagles moved to 1-0 in Class 1A, Region 4 play Friday night, taking a 34-0 road win over Akron High.

“Akron plays us pretty tough, and we made some mistakes with penalties,” said A.L. Johnson head coach Johnny Ford, “but overall we played very well. I think we are playing well, but we are still not where I want us to be.”

Ford said his sixth-ranked Eagles are playing with a new level of confidence, but he cautions that his team still need to improve in various areas of the game. “We need to work on taking care of mental mistakes and on ball security,” he said. “We also need to be more disciplined on both sides of the ball.”

A.L. Johnson, 2-1 overall, will host Sunshine in Thomaston Friday night.
