Mother, son publish story of overcoming obstacles, giving hope

Almost seven years ago, 15-year-old Jacob Browder was injured at a bull-riding school. Jacob suffered a traumatic brain injury, including five bleeds. The injury was so severe that he had to learn how to do everything all over again.

In September 2020, six years after the injury, Jacob and his mother, Susan Browder, began writing a book about his experience. They used a journal she had kept as a timeline. They completed the final edit of The Bull Didn’t Win in June and now are publishing the book through Persona Publishing.

Mother and son will sign copies of their book Thursday, July 15, at The Mustard Seed from 5-7 p.m. The book is being released on Amazon that day as well.

Jacob, now 22 and just released from physical therapy, lives in Eutaw. He holds a machine tool technology degree, owns Browder Landscaping, now is a published author and has started motivational/inspirational speaking. His doctor describes his recovery as remarkable.

Susan Browder lives in Forkland and is starting her 25th year of teaching in Demopolis public schools.

Susan said Jacob wrote the book “to inspire others going through a difficult time, to never give up. I wrote the book to give everyone hope who is walking through something really tough with a family member.”
