Eutaw woman wins $1.5 million civil case against Dollar General

A Greene County civil jury awarded a Eutaw woman $1.5 million on Thursday, April 4 after she was seriously injured in a 2011 fall in the Eutaw Dollor General store.

Earnestine Smith, who was represented by K. Scott Stapp and Taylor T. Perry Jr., of Demopolis, sustained injuries to both knees resulting in her needing bilateral knee replacements.

“Witnesses describe the fall as vary hard and loud and directly on both knees,” Stapp said.

“I trust the decision of the jury and we are ready to defend this just verdict on appeal,” Perry said.

The law firm of Manley, Traeger, Perry and Stapp received assistance from Walter S. Griess of Eutaw and Kyra L. Sparks of Selma in the case.
