UWA women’s golf cards first win

UWA Women's GolfTUNICA, Miss. – West Alabama women’s golf carded a 326 in round two to win The Buccaneer tournament hosted by Christian Brothers University on Tuesday. It is the first year programs first win.

After finishing second in the first round, the Tigers jumped William Carey who entered the day with a 316 lead.

“It’s a dream to win a tournament in first year, especially with a team of freshman,” said UWA head golf coach Adam Buie. “We only shot three better than yesterday to come back from seven behind. I’m just very proud of these girls and what they have been able to accomplish today.”

Tori Smith shot an 81 in round two to lead the Tigers with 161. Ida Bergli matched her first round score of 81 in day two to finish second for UWA with 162.

Christine Stryken followed her first round score of 79 with 85 to finish with 164. Savannah Payne carded 166 while Jessica Smyth ended with 167.
