UWA up to 15 in AFCA poll

WACO, Texas – The University of West Alabama football team climbed one spot to 15h in this week’s American Football Coaches Association Division II Coaches Poll after winning, 45-3, on the road at Florida Tech.

West Alabama is 2-1 overall, 1-0 in the Gulf South Conference, and is one of just two GSC teams ranked in this week’s top 25. Defending national champion Valdosta State (2-0) held on to the top spot following a 41-0 victory at home over Shorter. North Alabama dropped out of the poll this week.

Valdosta State is scheduled to visit Tiger Stadium in Livingston on Thursday, Oct. 10 in a game that will be televised by GSC-TV LIVE. The Tigers and the Blazers split a pair of games last season.

UWA is playing Concordia College (0-2) Thursday at Tiger Stadium in Demopolis, Ala. Kickoff at the Demopolis High School facility is set for 6 p.m. There will be no television, but the game will be broadcast locally on ESPN 104.9 and globally at www.espn1049.com.
