UWA students name Tamara Smoot of Talladega 2014 Homecoming Queen

LIVINGSTON — The University of West Alabama crowned its 2014 Homecoming Queen during halftime ceremonies of the Tigers’ game against Delta State on Saturday.

Escorted by her grandfather, Jimmy Willis, Smoot was crowned queen by 2013 queen Libby Hankins, SGA President D’Anthony Jackson, and UWA President John Blackwell.

Smoot is a senior from Talladega, Ala. She is majoring in biology comprehensive medical. A graduate of Lincoln High School, Smoot serves as a resident assistant for UWA Housing and as vice president of Tri-Beta academic honor society. She came to UWA on a trustee scholarship. She is the daughter of April M. Truss.

The queen’s court includes freshman maid Brooke Ames of London, Ohio; sophomore maid Erin Jimerson of Butler, Ala.; Kaleigh Henders of Greensboro, Ala.; Lilli Martin of Meridian, Miss.; Sydney Matthews of Meridian, Miss.; and Hannah McDaniel of Carrollton, Ala.
