UWA joins Home Grown Successful Entrepreneur conference

LIVINGSTON — The Small Business Development Center at the University of West Alabama will be a presenting partner at a small business start-up and expansion training event on Friday, Sept. 28 at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa.
Registration begins at 7:45 a.m.

The Home Grown Successful Entrepreneur conference will focus on energizing small businesses and rural communities. The conference will feature hands-on learning opportunities for potential and existing business owners.

The day’s agenda includes an opening general session and four breakout tracks of development workshops. The purpose is to encourage small business development in rural west Alabama to lift local economies and create jobs.

The conference features two promising rural entrepreneurs who are setting the standard for aspiring entrepreneurs. Willow Tufano, a 14-year-old who successfully launched her business by salvaging items and selling them on a popular trading site, craigslist, is the opening session keynote.

Kay Robertson of A&E television’s reality show “Duck Dynasty” will be the luncheon keynote.
