UWA climbs to No. 7 in D2Football.com poll

UWA vs Valdosta State-7646LIVINGSTON ā€“ The University of West Alabama football team climbed five positions to No. 7 in this week’s D2Football.com Top 25 Poll following last week’s 49-30 victory over then No. 1 Valdosta State.

This is the first time this season the Tigers have broken into the top 10 in both the D2Football poll and the weekly AFCA poll, where UWA is ranked No. 8. West Alabama (5-1) plays its second straight top 25 opponent this week, traveling to Wichita Falls, Texas, to meet Midwestern State (4-1). The Mustangs are ranked 24th in the AFCA poll and 21st in D2Football.

Kickoff for Saturday’s game is 8 p.m. CDT as Midwestern State celebrates it 2013 Homecoming. The Mustangs are also riding a 22-game home winning streak.

There will be no television for the game, but Tiger fans can follow the action on the UWA radio broadcast, which airs locally on ESPN 104.9 and worldwide at www.espn1049.com. James Hardy and Hunter Gibson will call the action. The pregame show, which includes Coach Will Hall’s pregame interview, begins at 7:45 p.m.
