UWA Board of Trustees commends Lindsey for 49 years of service

LIVINGSTON, Ala.—The University of West Alabama Board of Trustees recognized retiring UWA employee Earlene Lindsey of Demopolis, Ala., at its June 6 meeting. Lindsey is the board’s longtime executive secretary.

Lindsey joined the UWA family in 1967 as a secretary in the business office. She held several

positions in the office, being promoted to supervisor of payroll, insurance, and personnel in 1974, the position she held until her retirement from full-time employment in 1997. After returning as a part-time employee, she worked as an assistant in Financial Affairs, the Office of the Provost, and the Office of the President, where she will continue as a special projects coordinator until June 30, 2016.

Alongside these positions, Lindsey has also been responsible for recording and transcribing

minutes for the University Board of Trustees, the UWA Foundation Board, and President’s Council.

UWA President Ken Tucker shared a resolution of gratitude for Lindsey, through which he detailed her commitment to the University and commended her for 49 years of service.

Outgoing BOT president Terry Bunn echoed his sentiments and thanked Lindsey for her dedication and for the administrative guidance and support she has offered to the board for many years.

Lindsey’s successor is Katie Beard, who previously served as secretary to the dean of online programs at UWA.
