UWA baseball signs three JuCo hitters

LIVINGSTON– The University of West Alabama baseball program has added a trio of junior college players to its roster for the 2019 season.

Justin Booker is a catcher from Calhoun (Ala.) Community College, while JD Roberts is an outfielder from Holmes (Miss.) Community College and Caleb Squires an outfielder from Marion Military (Ala.) Institute.

From Brookwood, Alabama and American Christian Academy, Squires batted .409 with four home runs and 27 runs batted in over 42 games as a sophomore at MMI. Over an 82-game career, he batted .383 with eight homers, 14 doubles, seven triples and 72 RBI. He posted a career .459 on base percentage and a career .582 slugging percentage. Squires also made just two errors in 74 fielding chances.

From Meridian, Mississippi, Roberts batted .380 with a homer and 28 RBI over 42 games last season at Holmes Community College. He also stole 26 bases in 29 attempts while posting a .452 on base and .504 slugging percentage. He committed just five errors in 72 total fielding chances.

From Trussville, Alabama, Booker batted .338 in 48 games as a sophomore at Calhoun Community College with a home run, eight doubles and 17 RBI. Booker posted a .444 on base percentage and a .423 slugging percentage. The Hewitt-Trussville High School product committed just three errors in 80 total fielding chances for a .963 fielding percentage.
