Two Rivers Arts Council to present Todd Green

DEMOPOLIS — The Two Rivers Arts Council will present “A World of Music with Todd Green” on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7p.m. at the Demopolis High School Auditorium. He will also perform for students and faculty at the Demopolis Middle School on Monday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. and the Demopolis High School on Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.

Multi-Instrumentalist Todd Green will perform original music on over 30 acoustic string, flute and percussion instruments from all over the world, inspired by many different cultures in the Middle East, Central Asia, Far East and South America. His custom-built electronic system allows him to layer instruments as he performs, which in effect turns him into a high-tech one-man-band of World Music. As Todd takes his audience on a fascinating tour of many countries and their diverse styles of music, he intersperses his playing with entertaining and informative explanations of the music and the instruments. His artistic mission is to “help bring down the barriers that divide us by experiencing other cultures through their music.”

“Funding for this project came from a $1,000 grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts,” said Two Rivers Arts Council president Morgan Grimes. “(Demopolis High School principal Leon) Clark and (Demopolis Middle School principal Blaine) Hathcock have been extremely helpful and accommodating in bringing arts into the schools. As an arts council, we try to bring quality arts exhibits and performances to our community. This performance is very unique because it exposes the audience to music from all over the world.”

Regardless of your musical interests and background, Todd Green’s concert is a uniquely gratifying experience with elements of both the familiar and the unfamiliar, and promises to broaden everyone’s musical horizons in an unforgettable way. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event. Two Rivers Arts Council members receive free admission. Student tickets are $5, but free with a paid adult. Adult tickets are $10.
