Train collides with car, results in no injuries

A train collided with the driver’s side of a four-door sedan on South Strawberry Street Monday morning.

The driver of the car, Bill McGillivary, who was able to climb out of the vehicle through the passenger side, sustained no significant injuries in the incident.

McGillivary’s vehicle was moved some 30 yards from its original location. McGillivary said the train operator did not signal his presence until immediately before the impact.

Demopolis Police Department Chief Tommie Reese and other DPD officers reported to the scene. Reese said that any comment on the matter prior to the filing of the official report would be premature.
