Toney Nixon to play Wilcox Artworks’ Music on the River this Saturday

Wilcox Artworks presents a night of Music on the River featuring Destiny Brown and Toney Nixon.

The event will be Saturday, June 14 – rain or shine – starting at 6 pm at the Millers Ferry Training Dike – East Bank Park.

Bring your quilts, chairs, friends, and family and enjoy the sound of music against the backdrop of the Alabama River.

Destiny Brown is a country and rock singer/guitarist. She is a native of Orville and graduated from Auburn University. She now lives in Orange Beach. She performs regularly at The Hangout, The Wharf, and Lulu’s.

Brown plays a wide variety of hits and classics including songs by Tracy Chapman, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Janice Joplin, Dolly Parton, and Patsy Cline. She also plays a number of original songs like her, “One Way Ticket to Birmingham” that captures her signature soulful sound.

Brown’s impressive skill and talent with the guitar allows her to play her own lead, rhythm, and bass.

Toney Nixon2Toney Nixon is a jazz musician from Demopolis. His performances cover an extensive array of rhythm and blues by Nat King Cole, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston, Kenny G and Stevie Wonder.

Nixon plays soprano, tenor and baritone saxophone, all with clean and clear notes and tones. His seems to have an effortless range that spans from a low, raw gritty sound to a higher sweet and soulful pitch.

He has performed in the past at Black Belt Treasure’s annual After Hours even. His CD’s are available in their gift shop.

Tickets can be purchased at Black Belt Treasures or from any Artworks member. Tickets will also be available at the gate. Prices are $5.00 for adults, $1.00 for children 6 to 12, and children under 6 get in free with parent.

Vendors will be selling food and drinks. No alcoholic beverages. Wilcox Artworks is our area arts council committed to bringing art and cultural experiences to the residents of Wilcox County. They invite and appreciate your continued support. Proceeds will benefit Wilcox Artworks’ programs.
