Tigers score 10 unanswered to beat Selma

Wesley Anderson (3-0) started the game on the mound for the Tigers, working five innings of two-hit baseball while striking out six and surrendering one run on 72 pitches.

The Tigers put Anderson in position for the win in the home half of the fifth with a four-run rally ignited by a Josh Mangum double. Matt Eicher dropped down a sacrifice bunt that saw a misplay result in runners on the corners with nobody out.

Brock Montgomery drilled a ball through the third baseman’s legs to score Mangum and tie the game.

Mason Rogers followed with a base knock to right to plate Eicher and give Demopolis a lead it would never lose.

Devin Stroud then stroked a sacrifice fly to deep right field to score Montgomery before Anderson plated Rogers on a RBI groundout.

DHS vs Selma-4871Stroud took to the mound in the top of the sixth to work the six out save that saw him fan two batters over two hitless frames. The Tiger bats gave Stroud plenty of breathing room in the home half of the sixth with a six-run rally.

Walker Davis drew a walk before scoring on a Mangum RBI double. Eicher followed with a RBI single to plate Mangum and push the lead to 6-1. Eicher later scored on a wild pitch to up the lead to 7-1.

Montgomery reached on a bunt single and swiped second before soring an Anderson single. An error by the center fielder on the Anderson single allowed Stroud to score from second on the play and stretch the Demopolis advantage to 9-1. Anderson scored the final run of the contest on a wild pitch.

The Tigers also got hits from Davis and Will Tucker in the second inning. Demopolis batters coaxed seven walks in the contest.
