SELMA — Demopolis (3-1, 2-1) got three touchdowns from Demetrius Kemp and two from Roderick Davis in a 35-12 win over Class 5A, Region 3 foe Selma Friday night.

The Tigers covered 36 yards in four plays for their first score of the contest as Davis did the heavy lifting with a 22-yard scamper to set up a five-yard touchdown run by Kemp.

Selma appeared poised to answer as it embarked on a nine-play drive all the way to the Demopolis 25 before Rahmeel Cook forced a fumble that was recovered by Cortez Lewis.

The Tigers made the most of the opportunity, covering 75 yards in 12 plays to stretch the lead to 14-0 when Kemp ran it in from 11 yards out.

Selma responded with an eight-play drive that covered 62 yards and ended when Jesse Boggs found Lekedrich Rogers for a 16-yard touchdown pass.

Demopolis’ Tim Bonner blocked the extra point attempt to keep the score at 14-6.

Demopolis added to its advantage on its second drive of the third quarter when it covered 65 yards on five plays, capping the march with a 20-yard Kemp touchdown run.

Demopolis then used eight plays to go 72 yards as Davis finished off the advance with a four-yard scoring run on a play in which right tackle Heath Stanford alertly dove on top of a loose ball that appeared to have been fumbled for what would have been the first touchdown of his career. It was ruled that Davis crossed the goal line before the ball came out.

The Tigers finished their scoring on their next possession when they covered 62 yards in five plays. The big strike of the drive came when Tyler Oates hit Lewis on a 43-yard pass play to set up a 15-yard Davis touchdown run.

The Saints then covered 78 yards in eight plays to cap the scoring on a 40-yard touchdown run by Davion Dubose. The two-point conversion attempt failed.
