The Thomasville Chamber of Commerce held its first ever Farmers’ Market on Saturday, June 13, in Clay Park, adjacent to the City’s Community Garden. Both local and area farmers and vendors brought their crops to Clay Park.

“We had a great turnout,” said Amy Prescott, Director of the Chamber. “We plan to continue this throughout the summer. Our next Market Day will be June 27.”

Visitors had an array of fresh vegetables, canned goods, and home-baked items to purchase. Vegetables that were available were those in season now, such as corn, snap beans, squash, tomatoes, watermelons, peppers, green onions, and cucumbers. In one area, visitors could refresh with lemonade, ice-cold water, and other drinks.

The Market was held next to the area that holds Thomasville’s first Community Garden.

“By having the Farmers’ Market in Clay Park, we wanted to raise awareness of the Community Garden,” added Prescott. Many visitors walked through the Garden for the first time, and comments on social media indicated that they were impressed.

Vendors and growers interested in being a part of the next Market Day should contact Amy Prescott at 334 636-1542 or E-mail her at director@thomasvillealchamber.com.

The Chamber invites everyone to come to Market Day in Thomasville on June 27.
