Sweet Water thumps R.C. Hatch

SWEET WATER — Pat Thompson’s team came home with a purpose Friday night, downing R.C. Hatch 68-0 after suffering back-to-back road losses.

The Bulldogs hung 34 points in the first quarter and 20 in the second to carry a 54-0 lead into half.

arter. Paul Weatherly hauled in a 55-yard touchdown pass from Branson Davis to stretch it to 13-0.

Jenkins then scored from 11 yards out with 7:30 left in the first quarter before Davis hooked up with Will Huckabee from 34 yards away to set the lead at 27-0. Jacory Brown capped the scoring in the first quarter with a 12-yard run.

Jenkins cashed in again from 45 yards out in the second quarter to make it 41-0. Weatherly then scored on a six-yard run. An R.J. Rodgers interception return, a Terrell Rogers run of a yard and a Brown sprint of six yards capped the scoring.

Sweet Water amassed 473 yards of total offense and 22 first downs in the contest.

Davis completed all three of his passes for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Jenkins had 132 yards and three scored on just seven carries. Vashon Slack added 83 yards on five carries. Brown had 64 yards and two scores on 14 runs.

Sweet Water (2-3, 1-2) returns to region play next week when it hosts Leroy.
