Sweet Water softball rolls in season’s first two games

Two games into the young season, Sweet Water softball has been little short of dominant. Eighth grade pitcher Megan Roe has dazzled in the season’s early going.

Roe pitched a one-hit complete game Tuesday in a 13-1 victory over Southern Choctaw. Roe fanned seven batters and allowed one unearned run on only 75 pitches.

The Bulldogs scored in every inning, using eight hits to plate 13 runs. BreAnna Ramsey homered and tripled. Sara Irvin doubled and tripled. Natalie Luker also doubled. Ramsey drove in four runs and scored twice. Irvin drove in three runs and scored twice. Charlie Vickers had one RBI and scored two runs. Eve Myers and Kora Myers each scored two runs. Madison Smith, Maggie Thompson and Luker scored one run apiece.

Sweet Water also proved a terror on the base paths, totaling seven steals in the game. Vickers had three while Smith, Ramsey, Kora Myers and Elaina Mitchell had one each.

The Bulldogs returned to action Thursday afternoon for a 14-0 shellacking of Fruitdale. The Pirates committed five errors in four innings of play and surrendered 14 hits during the blowout loss.

Roe struck out seven over five innings, using 52 pitches for the shutout victory.

Kora Myers doubled twice while Lindsey Davis, Irvin, Luker and Ramsey doubled once each. Vickers scored three runs while Davis, Irvin, Mitchell, Eve Myers and Kora Myers each scored two. Ramsey scored one run.

Irvin had four RBIs while Davis, Luker, Ramsey and Eve Myers each drove in two runs. Thompson drove in one.

Sweet Water (2-0) returns to action Friday against Thomasville.
