Sweet Water falls to Pulaski (Tenn.) in nine-inning battle

Sweet Water (15-7) ended its week at the Gulf Coast Classic Wednesday with a 6-5 loss to Pulaski (Tenn.) in a nine-inning affair.

The Bulldogs battled for a 5-4 lead in the seventh when Shamar Lewis stroked a homer that also drove in Luke Davis. Pulaski tied it in the bottom of the seventh and got the walk-off winner in the ninth.

Though he did not factor in the decision for the Bulldogs, Braden Broussard struck out five over five innings of work while scattering two earned runs on four hits.

Despite the loss, Sweet Water tallied 11 hits in the contest. Jonah Smith finished 1-for-4. Will Huckabee was 3-or-4 with a double. Hunter Mendenhall went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored. Broussard helped himself with a 1-for-3 line with one RBI.

Taylor Lewis went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a run scored. Davis scored a run while Shamar Lewis was 2-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs.

Sweet Water plays at Washington County Thursday, March 31 before returning home for a double-header against their Chatom rivals Friday, April 1.
