Sweet Water saw both members of its thunder-and-lightning backfield sign football scholarship offers Wednesday morning.

West Alabama Watchman Player of the Year Jakoby Aldridge became Marengo County’s fourth NCAA Division I signee when he inked a National Letter of Intent to Jacksonville State University.

At 5-6, 165 pounds, the diminutive dynamo ran for 2,571 yards and 32 touchdowns on 323 carries during his senior year. That rushing tally brought his two-year Sweet Water career total to more than 4,000 yards on the ground.

Aldridge committed to Jacksonville State in the summer of 2013, holding that commitment despite the departure of former Gamecock coach Bill Clark, who took the UAB head job late last month.

Aldridge was also an All-State selection in 2013 as well as the ESPN 104.9 Super 11 Player of the Year.

Sweet Water's Demarcus Gamble rumbled his way to 112 yards and four touchdowns at Choctaw County.
