Roemen, who completed two terms as President of AASOP, learned upon her arrival that this year’s conference was named in her honor. The recognition was a surprise, as was the appearance of several family members for part of the festivities. Those making their way to Birmingham to share congratulations were her husband, Fred, son Guy and daughter-in-law Krista, daughter Rebecca Hasty, granddaughter Claire Hasty, and son Jacob.

“Rarely does one come into contact with such a unique personality as Mrs. Jennifer Roemen,” the dedication in the conference’s official program read. “Although she possesses a mild and meek personality in the office, Mrs. Roemen ‘becomes many things’ when she hits the stage,” the program added, referencing Roemen’s extensive experience with the Canebrake Players in Demopolis.

The statement noted that she has served as director, cast member, stage hand and lead costume designer for many Canebrake Player productions, and that she has served AASOP as District VI Board Member, Second and First Vice-President and two-term President.

“Jennifer’s top priority is to serve God,” the statement continued, “and she does just that in her daily walk. As a member of First Baptist Church, Demopolis, she fills the role of a Sunday School teacher and Children’s Minister, leading Children’s Sermons each Sunday as part of the morning worship service.”

It was also noted that Roemen recently returned from her second mission trip to Romania, where she spent a week “distributing Bibles to orphans in the schools, and witnessing and ministering to all ages in small, remote villages.”
