“We consider it an honor to be hosted by local churches wherever we go and be able to present our Christian faith and Moody Bible Institute through the music that we do,” said Dr. Xiangtang Hong, associate professor of music and director of the Moody Chorale.

Founded in 1946 at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., the Chorale has long been established as one of the leading collegiate choral organizations in the United States specializing in sacred music. The repertoire includes a broad range of music chosen from all periods of music history. The Chorale ministers through music as it tours the United States twice a year and travels abroad during the summer, performing in Great Britain, Europe, Australia, East Asia, Israel, Guatemala, South Africa and in many other parts of the world. In addition to the Chorale, Moody has three other music ensembles: the Women’s Concert Choir, Men’s Collegiate Choir and Symphonic Band.pic - Chorale_2(1)

Dr. Hong, who joined Moody’s faculty in 2006, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Sacred Music from East Carolina University and a Masters in Choral Conducting from Westminster Choir College. She also holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting and Literature from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign. Xiangtang enjoys sharing her love for music and conducting as a choral clinician, adjudicator, and guest conductor, but her greatest joy is in being a mentor to her students.
