Probate Office, Revenue Commissioner accepting debit cards

Laurie S. Hall, Marengo County Probate Judge, announced the Marengo County Probate Tag/License Office now accepts payment by credit or debit card in the office.

“You may use your credit or debit cards to pay for license renewals, tag renewals, titles and any other transaction in our Tag/License office,” she said.

Hall’s announcement coincides with that of Revenue Commissioner Sharon B. Barkley, who noted her office is also now accepting debit and credit cards.

“The public has been asking to use their cards for some time, so I am glad this service is now in place. I do hope the public will take advantage of this new updated service and ease of payment,” Barkley said.

The service is being provided by IMS, Enterprises, which will charge a 2.5 percent convenience/processing fee for each transaction. IMS is also working to provide the Revenue Commissioner’s office with a new website that will allow for taxes to be paid online.

“We have received many requests to take debit/credit cards, so I am very glad that we are able to offer this convenient service to the public,” Hall said.

Hall reminded vehicle owners that they can renew tags online at renewyourtag.com.

The Revenue Commission will be holding a Tax Sale Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m. in the main courtroom.

“If you would like to pay your delinquent taxes, you can pay by cash, money order or credit card,” Barkley said. “As of (Tuesday), there are 65 parcels left unpaid.  Customers have until 9:30 Friday, April 12to pay their taxes before it is sold.”
