Police charge six with check forging

The Demopolis Police Department arrested six individuals Wednesday who were allegedly involved in a counterfeit check ring.arrest 2

“Wal-Mart filed a complaint of the checks being cashed and our investigation led to this counterfeit check ring in Greensboro, Alabama,” said Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese.

The individuals allegedly presented forged State of Alabama checks at Wal-Mart to be cashed. The checks were not actual State of Alabama checks, but were printed on a home printer, according to the release. The following suspects were arrested:

Chasmine Tabb, 21, of Greensboro, two counts of possession of forged instrument, first, degree.

Latoya Hoskins, 22, of Greensboro, one count of possession of forged instrument, first degree.arrest 3

Katerriaeial Lewis, 30, of Greensboro, one count of possession of forged instrument, first degree.

Kiara Paige, 24, of Greensboro, two counts of possession of forged instrument, first degree.

Daryl Paige, 25, of Greensboro, one count of possession of forged instrument, first degree.

Wendy Sanders, 24, of Greensboro, two counts of possession of forged instrument, first degree.

DPD investigators traveled to the Greensboro and picked up all of the arrested suspects and transported them the Marengo County Detention Center in Linden to await a bond hearing.arrest 4

Reese said the investigation is still ongoing and he expects to arrest additional suspects in the counterfeit check ring. The chief praised his investigators for the work done in this investigation.
