Hamm has been the Senior Pastor of Gardendale First Baptist Church since April 2006. The church averages 3,500 in worship and is consistently among the state leaders in baptisms.

He has the unique ability to hold an audience’s attention by communicating God’s Word with tremendous clarity and enthusiastic passion. He has preached at Evangelism Conferences in Oklahoma, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas and Mississippi.

Hamm has served on the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention and as President of the Alabama Baptist Pastor’s Conference. His articles have been published in “Growing Churches”, “Leadership” and “Leader Life”.

The May 2 event is sponsored by the Thursday Morning Men’s Prayer Group, which meets weekly at Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital and includes men from various area churches.

“This event is totally free,” said Prayer Group organizers Jeff Holley and Jim Stanford. “There will be no admission fee and no love offering will be taken. We want the men in this area to come out and just enjoy a great meal, great fellowship and hear a challenging message. This will be a wonderful evening for us as men to be challenged to stand in the gap for God.”

The organizers chose Ezekiel 22:30 as the theme for the evening. The verse says, “I searched for a man among them who would repair the wall and stand in the gap.”
