No injuries in Rembert fire

The Demopolis Fire and Rescue Department responded to a house fire at 103 Rembert Street late Wednesday afternoon.

The fire is believed to have started in the carport area of the home and climbed into the attic. DFRD personnel extinguished the blaze with minimal damage to the home or its contents. No one was injured during the incident.

Demopolis Fire and Rescue Department Chief Tommy Tate said firefighters were able to lay down tarps over much of the personal property in the area of the fire to minimize water damage to the home and its contents.

“The guys had a great response time and got it out pretty quickly,” Tate said of how his staff handled the blaze.

The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
