McNeal gets BSN Player of the Week honors

LIVINGSTON — West Alabama safety Demetruce McNeal has been selected by Beyond Sports Network as one of six NCAA Division II national defensive players of the week.

McNeal had two interceptions and made three tackles in the Tigers’ 45-14 victory over Delta State. On the season he has recorded 45 tackles, three interceptions and five broken up passes.

Other BSN defensive players of the week include linebackers Sammy Siasia of Mars Hall, Alfy Hill of Winston Salem State and Tyler Thornton of Azusa Pacific, defensive end Josh Gordon of Minnesota State and cornerback Jack Moro or St. Cloud State.

The BSN Athlete of the Week is a national award given out for the top performances in the FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA.
