Marengo Panthers drop varsity contests in opener

DIXON’S MILLS — The Marengo High basketball teams opened the 2015-2016 season Tuesday night, dropping a pair of varsity games to Southern Choctaw.

The Lady Panthers fell 50-25 in their season debut. Iesha Bouler scored seven points and grabbed 14 rebounds to go along with five steals in the losing effort. J’Mya Hall had seven points, five steals and four rebounds.

The varsity Panthers followed with a narrow 32-31 defeat at the hands of Southern Choctaw. Michael Kennedy had 13 points, eight rebounds and four steals in the loss. Thomas McGrew led SCHS with nine points.

The Panther JV squad opened the night with a 31-25 win over its SCHS counterparts. Dominique Harris had 12 points while Keshawn Fountain scored 10.

The Marengo teams are set to take to the floor again Thursday at 5 p.m. when they host Sweet Water.
