Marengo High teams sweep Sweet Water Tuesday

DIXON’S MILLS — Marengo High basketball had a big night Tuesday, scoring three wins in the latest chapter of its rivalry with Sweet Water.

The junior varsity squads opened the night with the Marengo JV scoring a win in a 42-19 rout.

Roosevelt Thompson led the Panther JV with 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists and four steals. Shamar Lewis paced the Sweet Water junior varsity with eight points and eight rebounds.

The Lady Panthers followed with a 32-28 win over Sweet Water. J’Mya Hall led the way for MHS with 17 points, three rebounds, three steals and an assist. Gabrielle Cassity led Sweet Water with 14 points.

The win moved the Marengo ladies to 4-8 on the season.

The Marengo varsity boys ended the night with a 60-32 win. Cordarius Pritchett contributed 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals for lead Marengo.

Jemar Monroe scored 10 points to lead Sweet Water.

The win moved the MHS varsity to 3-9 on the season.

Marengo is set to resume play Friday night when it travels to Linden High for an area matchup.
