Marengo High teams drop Sweet Water in trio of games

The Marengo High basketball teams pulled a trio of wins Thursday night, downing long-time rivals Sweet Water.

The Marengo junior varsity boys started the evening with a 34-17 win over Sweet Water. Keshawn Fountain led the way with 10 points and a steal. Shamar Lewis paced Sweet Water with 12 points.

The Marengo Lady Panthers then downed the Sweet Water girls team 47-19. J’Mya Hall led with 14 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and three steals. Alton James added 10 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The Marengo varsity boys ended the night with a 62-54 win over the Bulldogs. Michael Kennedy led with 13 points, seven steals, three rebounds, two assists and a block. Justin Dunning finished with 13 points, five rebounds, two steals and one assists.

Joquin Westbrook had 10 points, two assists, two steals and one rebound.

The night moved all three Marengo teams to 1-1 on the young season. The teams are set to play again Friday night at home against Ellwood Christian.
