Marengo High squads lose close games at Southern Choctaw

DIXON’S MILL — The Marengo High School basketball teams dropped a trio of games at Southern Choctaw Tuesday night. The junior varsity Panthers opened the evening with a 58-47 loss to SCHS.

Quindarius Ausbon led the way for MHS with 16 points, three rebounds and a block. Christion Wright added 12 points, 15 rebounds and three steals.

Tyreek Brewer paced Southern Choctaw with 14 points. The loss drops the Panther JV to 3-3.

The Lady Panthers fell narrowly to Southern Choctaw 42-41. J’Mya Hall led Marengo with 22 points, eight rebounds, one assist and one steal. Katelyn Kirksey had 10 points to lead the Lady Indians.

The Marengo varsity boys finished the night with a 41-34 loss to Southern Choctaw. Michael Kennedy led Marengo with 11 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists.

Thomas McGrew had 18 points to lead Southern Choctaw.

Marengo is set to play again Friday when it travels to Thomaston to face area foe A.L. Johnson.
