Marengo Academy has little trouble in shutout of Patrician

Marengo Academy hung 43 points on the board in the first half and coasted the rest of the way in a 43-0 win at Patrician Academy Friday night.

Hayden Huckabee scored on an 11-yard run in the first quarter before Zac Murphy punched it in from 10 yards out.

Huckabee scored on a 12-yard run in the second quarter. Murphy then cashed in an 8-yard run. Huckabee got his final touchdown of the night on a 55-yard interception return for a score. Murphy scored for the third time on a 7-yard run. Austin Day connected on all of his extra point attempts. Huckabee ran in a 2-point conversion run following a bad snap on a kick attempt.

The Longhorns amassed 270 yards on 45 carries and added 76 yards through the air, outpacing Patrician 346-74 in the yardage department.

Cason Cook led the defense with seven total tackles. Andrew Martin added four tackles, two tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble.

MA spread the ball around in the ground game. Murphy had 13 carries for 65 yards. Huckabee had 56 yards on seven totes. Weldon Aydelott had 55 yards on seven carries while Martin had 52 yards on three runs.

Marengo is set to travel to Pickens next Friday night.
