Marengo Academy dismantles North River

Marengo Academy (3-1, 2-0) wasted little time introducing itself to North River Christian in the first ever meeting between the two programs Friday night. The Longhorns made their formal introduction when Landon Houlditch hauled in a 41-yard touchdown pass from Jacob Beck to incite the 51-0 rout that would make for an abbreviated evening.

Houlditch then caught a 21-yard pass from Beck to move the Marengo advantage to double digits. Robert Tutt added touchdown runs of six yards and 42 yards and the blowout was officially on for the Longhorns. Cameron Peppenhorst scored from five yards out to send the game to half with a 38-0 Marengo Academy lead.

Hayden Megginson returned a kick 81 yards in the second half before Peppenhorst scored on an 8-yard run to cap the scoring.

The Longhorns managed 346 yards on just 32 snaps including 294 rushing yards. Tutt had 120 yards on nine carries while Peppenhorst had 73 yards on 10 runs.

The Longhorns return to action Thursday night when they host Patrician in a Class A, Region 2 contest.
