Marengo Academy closed due to weather threat

LINDEN – Marengo Academy is closed today due to the threat of inclement weather, with other local private schools such as Clarke Prep out of session due to the uncertainty that surrounds Hurricane Isaac.  Marengo Academy Headmaster Robby James opted to also take the cautious route.

Which parts of South Alabama already under a tornado watch until 4 p.m., those in the Southwest portion of the state are keeping a close eye on storm as it moves on to the Gulf Coast.

The eastern side of such storms is known to produce high winds and the threat of tornadic activity.

Should the storm make landfall where many analysts expect that it will, southwest Alabama would fall on the east side of the storm.

James could not be reached for comment.
