Leta Mae Plummer Williams age 84 of San Antonio, TX died November 4, 2012 in Plano, TX. Leta was born January 8, 1928 in Grove Hill, Alabama. She was a graduate of Grove Hill High School and Huntington College. Leta grew up in a house full of family with her parents Ralph and Carrie Plummer, and 8 siblings whom she loved. After graduating from Huntington, Leta married Ben Ed Williams from Thomasville, Ala. and moved to California where Ben Ed was stationed with the United States Air Force. Married in 1951, Leta and Ben Ed shared a marriage for life, enjoying 58 anniversaries together until Ben Ed’s passing in 2010. After several relocations with the Air Force to places such as Biloxi, Mississippi, Montgomery Alabama, and back to Livermore, California, Leta and Ben, as he was called in the Air Force, moved to San Antonio, Texas and started their family. God blessed the happy couple with two boys, Ben and Mark, and thanks to a transition out of the active duty Air Force and into the Civil Service, enjoyed raising their family and ultimately retiring in San Antonio without any additional relocations. Leta enjoyed the traditions she was raised with, loving her husband and boys with a clean house, clean clothes, and home cooked meals every day. When her youngest reached high school age Leta returned to the work force, working for Dillard’s Department Stores in their Corporate Divisional Headquarters as a Buyer’s Assistant for almost 20 years. After she retired from Dillard’s, Leta enjoyed being a Grandmother, or Nana, as her 5 Grandchildren called her. She looked forward to each opportunity to be with her Grandchildren, whether rocking an infant, playing on the floor with a toddler, or baking brownies or a chocolate pound cake for a teenager. Leta loved her time with her brothers and sisters more than anything else. For many years Leta, Ben, and the boys returned to Clarke County Alabama to vacation with her siblings in Grove Hill, Thomasville, and Jackson, for Christmas and summer vacations. Leta was proud of and loved every member of her family and she loved to share stories about them with her friends. Leta Plummer Williams was a humble lady, who loved her family and friends. She was a sweet lady who lived a sweet and simple life, and she is already missed by those who loved her.

Leta is survived by her Son – Ben Williams of Garland, Texas, and his children, Meredith Stanley of Gainesville, Florida, and Ashley Williams of Dallas, Texas; Son – Mark Williams of McKinney, Texas, and his family, wife Camille, and children, Russell, Matt, and Carrie Williams, all of McKinney, Texas; and her Siblings – MC Plummer of Jackson, Alabama, Dorothy Schenk of Thomasville, Alabama, Betty Barfield of Montgomery, Alabama, and Virginia Crim of Atlanta, Georgia.
