Longhorns trounce Eastwood

MONTGOMERY — Marengo Academy (2-0) blasted Eastwood Christian 51-14 Friday night in a game played at John Mark Stallings at Faulkner University.

The Longhorns tallied 372 yards rushing on just 27 carries en route to the blowout victory that saw MA’s reserves take the field before halftime.

The Longhorns went over the top to Shade Pritchett for a 65-yard touchdown pass off the arm of Tyler Barkley on the game’s first play.

Hayden Huckabee extended the MA lead with a nine-yard touchdown run less than three minutes later.

Josh Holifield scored on a one-yard run before finding paydirt again on an 88-yard run. Huckabee found the end zone again on a 40-yard run. Sebastian Hale scored twice on runs of five and 18 yards. Cameron Peppenhorst scored on a 14-yard jaunt.

Eastwood got its scores on an 85-yard kickoff return, a 74-yard run and a safety.

Holifield had 195 yards and two scores on 10 carries. Huckabee had 76 yards and two scores on four carries. Hale finished with 77 yards and a pair of TDs on six carries. Pritchett hauled in three passes for 91 yards.

Cason Cook had nine total tackles and a sack. Hayden Hall finished with seven total tackles and a forced fumble. Alston Dinning had an interception for Marengo.

The Longhorns are set to host Jackson Academy next week.
