Longhorns trample Wilcox, finish perfect region slate

IMG_5461CAMDEN — Marengo Academy (6-1, 4-0) scored all its points in the first two quarters of play and cruised to a 41-22 win over Wilcox Academy Thursday night.

IMG_5505Hayden Huckabee made the most of his touches, rushing seven times for 127 yards and four touchdowns in the effort. The senior tailback scored on runs of 66, 3, 46 and 7 yards in the game’s first quarter. Robert Tutt scored from two yards out early in the second quarter to stretch the lead to 34-0.

Huckabee struck again in the second when he returned a punt 40 yards for a touchdown to put the Longhorns up 41-0.

Wilcox scored all of its points in the second half against the MA reserve units.

Weldon Aydelott had six carries for 45 yards for the Longhorns. Tutt was 3 of 5 through the air for 62 yards and hit five of his six extra point kicks.

Andrew Martin had five tackles and a blocked punt. Thomas Etheridge, Cason Cook and Austin Eatmon each had three tackles.

Wilcox falls to 2-5 overall and 1-2 in region play. The Wildcats travel to Pickens next week.

Marengo finishes AISA, AA, Region 1 play unbeaten and will host throughout the playoffs. The Longorns welcome Abbeville Christian to town next Friday night.
