Local church vandalized

Hope Baptist Church on Highway 69 south of Linden suffered vandalism over the weekend as church members discovered Monday morning the building had been tagged with graffiti.

The graffiti was done in red and green spray paint and now adorns the exterior walls of the building in the form of profanity, satanic emblems and other markings.

Reports indicate somewhere near $7,000 in damages were done as the perpetrators also broke a window, a table inside the building and stole a jar containing money intended for the Save A Life Crisis Pregnancy Center in Demopolis.

The Marengo County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation.
