Linden varsity squads sweep A.L. Johnson

Linden’s varsity squads showed little mercy to are rival A.L. Johnson Tuesday night, dispatching of the top ALJ squads in short order.

The Linden varsity boys capped the night with an 87-55 skunking of the Eagles that saw a running clock for the entirety of the fourth quarter. The Pats led 27-10 after one quarter of play and scarcely looked back against an undermanned Eagle squad that fielded only six players.

De’Antre Johnson led Linden with 23 points in the contest. Isaiah Scott added 21 while Dequan Charleston had 16 and Graderius Brown netted 11.

Johnny Robertson paced ALJ with 20 points. Robin Harris had 11 and Lonnie Henton finished with 10. LaDarius Hood notched eight on the night.

The win moves Linden to 3-0 in area play and follows a 51-44 home victory over Marengo High last Saturday night. Johnson had 16 in that contest while Brown finished with 13.

Roosevelt Thompson paced Marengo with 13 points while Cordarius Pritchett scored 11 and Dominique Harris had 10.

Linden (9-6) plays at Marengo High (3-5) Friday night.

The Lady Patriots used their quickness and suffocating defense to create offense Tuesday, running to a 38-13 halftime lead and punctuating the evening with a 65-27 win over ALJ.

Tomysha Boykin had 23 points on the night to lead all scorers. Amber Richardson added 18 in the effort. Ja’Lani Mair scored nine points to lead ALJ.

The victory is the 12th consecutive for Linden, which downed Marengo High 52-32 Saturday night. Richardson scored 17 in that contest while Boykin added 12 and Tyroneshia Charleston had 11. J’Mya Hall paced Marengo with 15 points.

Linden (12-1) vists Marengo (1-7) Friday night.
