Linden opens season with win over Thomasville

THOMASVILLE — Linden (1-0) opened its season with a win Friday night, downing Thomasville 47-42.

The Patriots overcame a slow start in which they failed to connect on a field goal in the first quarter, scoring only a pair of free throws.

Linden turned things around in the second quarter with an 18-7 run to take a 20-13 lead into half.

“We’re going to play hard. That doesn’t surprise me,” Linden coach Andro Williams said. “We’ve got to continue to find the mode of understanding what we’re wanting to do and what we’re trying to get. We’ve got to continue to get better at those small things and play great defense.”

Imoras Agee led all scorers with 24 points for Linden. Chris Rogers added nine for the Patriots while Savon Parker led with 10 rebounds.

Roderick Calhoun led Thomasville with 11 points while Aaron Malone finished with 10.

The Patriots are scheduled to play again Tuesday night when they host Marengo High.
