Linden blanks Blacksher

URIAH — Linden hung 27 points on the board in the first quarter and never scarcely let up on the way to a 58-0 win over J.U. Blacksher Friday.

The Patriots amassed 348 yards on the ground while only attempting 22 rushes.

“I thought as the game went on, we got more and more physical,” Linden head coach Andro Williams said.

The Patriots scored 19 seconds into the game when Anthony Robinson hooked up with Jalen Lewis on a 31-yard touchdown pass.

Four minutes later, Marquis Shelton scored on a 17-yard run. Jamal Lewis added a 2-point conversion run to put Linden up 14-0.

Robinson later connected with Kynard Craig for a 31-yard touchdown pass to stretch the lead to 21-0.

Shelton capped the first quarter scoring with a 53-yard run.

Jamal Lewis scored the only touchdown of the second quarter with a 53-yard run of his own. Shelton took his third and final carry 55 yards for a score in the first minute of the third quarter.

Jalen Lewis added a 16-yard scoring run late in the third quarter to put Linden up 46-0.

Demetrius Ruffin scored on a 25-yard run in the fourth quarter while Jamon Evans recovered a fumble and returned it 10 yards for a touchdown.

Shelton led the Patriots with 125 yards and three touchdowns on just three carries. Jamal Lewis rushed five times for 102 yards and two scores. Chris Rogers led the defense with 13 tackles.

Linden (2-0) hosts St. Luke’s next week.
