Letter: DABC thanks University of West Alabama, DHS

The Demopolis Area Business Council would like to publicly express its appreciation to University of West Alabama President Dr. Richard Holland, Athletic Director Stan Williamson and Head Coach Will Hall for bringing college football to Demopolis.

Thursday night’s UWA game against Concordia College was a huge success by all accounts. It provided an excellent opportunity for the people of Demopolis to forge an even closer bond with the University of West Alabama, and it gave our citizens a chance to watch an exciting brand of college football.

Several local business owners and DABC members have commented that their various establishments benefitted from the event and the extra traffic it brought into town. Several Demopolis High School organizations were able to earn additional funds as well, including the Band Boosters who ran the concession stands, JROTC that handled parking, and the school itself that received part of the gate proceeds.

We also want to thank DHS Principal Dr. Tony Speegle and DHS Athletic Director/Head Coach Tom Causey for their assistance in making this event possible. They did an excellent job providing the necessary accommodations at the school for the teams, the media and other guests.

Jay Reynolds

Vice-President
