Late Linden run falls short in season-ending loss to Pleasant Home

DOTHAN – Linden struggled to contain standout junior Robert Scott Friday as its season came to a screeching halt in a 59-49 loss to Pleasant Home in the first round of the Class 1A Boys South Regional.

The Patriots appeared destined to suffer a blowout loss with 5:20 to play and the Eagles leading 49-35. Linden then got a three from Graderius Brown and turned to its press. A Dequan Charleston triple and an Isaiah Scott drive got the momentum rolling. Charleston then hits a put back layup to cut it to 51-45 and allow Linden to jump into its press. Brown stole a pass and dished to Charleston for a layup. The Patriot senior then converted an And-1 free throw opportunity to cut it to 51-48 and force a Pleasant Home timeout with 3:29 left in the game.

The Patriots could pull no closer as four different Eagle players scored in the final three minutes of the game to ice the victory.

Robert Scott finished with 29 points to lead his team. Charleston led Linden with 15 points while Isaiah Scott added 11.

Linden ends its season at 19-10. Pleasant Home (22-7) advances to face the winner of Georgiana and J.F. Shields in the South Regional final Tuesday evening at the Dothan Civic Center.
