Lady Tigers trounce Bibb County in opener

The Demopolis Lady Tigers (1-0) overcame early jitters to romp to a 55-21 season-opening win at Bibb County Tuesday night.

Demopolis trailed 11-1 in the first quarter before Tony Pittman called a timeout to settle his team.

“I think that was due partly because of nerves,” Pittman said. “We started playing our brand of basketball. I think (Bibb County) scored 10 points the rest of the game after that.”

Jonniece Collins led the Lady Tigers with 15 points. Shartisha Tripp and Ivery Moore each had nine points for Demopolis while Ebony Moore scored eight.

“It was the type of ballgame I was very excited about,” Pittman said. “I was interested to see how they handled game situations, especially on the road. It was a great opportunity for us to finally get out and play.”

The Lady Tigers return to the floor Thursday night when they host John Essex.
