Lady Tigers thump Greenville

Demopolis (10-12-1) beat Greenville in walk-off, 10-run rule fashion Tuesday when Alexis Jones stroked a three-run shot over the left field fence to end the game 11-1.

Demopolis entered the bottom of the fifth up 5-1. Riley King drew a walk and later scored on an errant throw induced by a Courtney Lawrence infield single.

Jade Montgomery singled, stole second, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on a throwing error for the 7-1 lead.

Olivia Brame walked, stole second, moved to third on an error and scored on a RBI grounder by Victoria Washburn to put the Lady Tigers up 8-1.

Jones’ homer also plated Danielle Tatum and Sydney Colyar to end the game.

Demopolis opened the scoring in the bottom of the first when Colyar walked and Jones singled before Zoe Lewis stroked a two-run base hit for the 2-0 lead.

Washburn hit a two-run single in the second to score Montgomery and Brame. Lewis drove Washburn in with a RBI walk to cap the three-run frame.

Greenville got its lone run off Lewis in the top of the second.

Jones, Lewis and Washburn each ended the night with three RBIs for the Lady Tigers.

The team observed Senior Night following the game, honoring Jones, Lewis, Washburn, Colyar, Brame, Tatum and Lawrence.
