Lady Tigers go unbeaten in Selma tournament win

DHS VballThe Demopolis High School volleyball team swept its way to the championship of the Selma High School Invitational Tournament Saturday.

DHS (14-4) opened the day with a 2-0 win over Class 6A Stanhope Elmore that saw the Lady Tigers take the first game 25-14 and the second game 25-22.

“We didn’t rise and fall,” Demopolis coach Angela Sanders said. “We stayed consistently high the entire day. It was a good side of the team to see.”

The Lady Tigers moved on to a 2-0 win over Billingsley, downing BHS 25-14 and 25-18. In the championship round, Demopolis beat Selma 25-19 and 25-21.

“I think it gave them a lot of confidence that they can do this,” Sanders said. “That’s something to build on. They can go pretty far.”

The Lady Tigers are set to host Hale County Tuesday with the junior varsity playing at 5 p.m. and the varsity following.
