Lady Tigers blast Greenville for area win

Demopolis (14-5) pressed, frustrated and ran away from Greenville for three quarters Friday night before turning to a quintet of little-used reserves en route to a 53-27 win.

The Lady Tigers hung 19 points on the board in the first quarter and 15 more in the second to take a 34-14 lead into the locker room at halftime. A 19-4 run in the third quarter sent the Lady Tigers’ regulars to the bench and allowed a quartet of eight graders to play the entire fourth quarter alongside a freshman.

Caleb Washington, who finished with a game high 18 points, punctuated the scoring for the Lady Tigers with a personal 12-0 run in the third quarter to cap the DHS point production. Washington also had five rebounds on the night.

Jonniece Collins finished one rebound shy of a triple-double as she recorded 12 points, 11 steals and nine boards to go along with four assists.

Ivery Moore added eight points and seven rebounds for the Lady Tigers.

Deoindra Rudoph led Greenville with nine points.

Demopolis is scheduled to play again Thursday when it hosts Bibb County and will observe its annual Senior Night festivities.
