Lady Longhorns shake rust, thump Patrician

LINDEN — Marengo Academy (15-0, 3-0) overcame a near two-week layoff to blank region foe Patrician 8-0 Tuesday.

“We were a little rusty. We got 10 hits, but we were a little rusty swinging the bats,” Marengo Academy head coach Danny Stenz said. “Andrea pitches on her own time, so she was sharp.”

Edmonds surrendered a hit to the first batter of the game and settled in quickly, holding Patrician hitless the remainder of the contest.

Chandler Stenz finished 2-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases, two RBIs and a run scored. Katie Tucker went 2-for-4 with a RBI and a double.

Conner Etheridge was 2-for-2 with a walk and two runs scored. Edmonds finished 2-for-3 with a triple, a RBI and a three runs scored.

Reesa Holifield went 1-for-3 with a run, a double and two RBIs. Taylor Barley finished 1-for-3 with a run and two stolen bases.

The team is scheduled to play again Friday at home against Sumter Academy before traveling to Alabaster against Kingwood Christian Saturday.
